June 5, 2017 For Immediate Release:
D&W Inc. achieves 50-year mark feeding RV-makers’ needs for specialty components ELKHART, IN – RV venting, duct and specialty parts manufacturer and mirror maker, D&W, Inc., is celebrating its 50th anniversary, holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 15. “We’re opening the way for the next 50 years,” says second-generation owner Tony Warning. “Because there’s a third generation coming up in the ranks.”
Growing amid the current economic climate, D&W (DWIncorp.com) looks to further its position as a major player in the RV industry as well as a significant, multi-industry manufacturer of glass mirror and fabricated glass specialty products.
D&W Inc. was founded in 1967 by H.D. Warning, who received his degree in Sales Engineering from Purdue University in the late 1930s. He was involved in the refrigeration business for nearly 30 years before he found a void in the RV industry that he thought he could fill. Beginning as a supplier of over-the-floor ducting systems for the RV industry, the company grew quickly around a heat rotator product flexible enough to be installed in the cabinets of an RV. Lacking a facility or any revenue from sales, Warning set up shop in his own garage on Eastlake Drive in Elkhart, Indiana, where the company’s headquarters were located for nearly five years. In the early 1970s, the company moved into its first building, a small facility on Edwardsburg Ave in Elkhart. About 10 years later, the company expanded, moving into a larger 110,000 square-foot facility at 941 Oak Street, which remains the company’s home. Dudley’s son, Tony, was involved in the business since its inception working after school and
weekends packing orders and helping make deliveries. After attending Hillsdale College, he
became fully involved in the business from 1973 to 1976. He left the business and moved west,
returning in 1979 as General Manager. He became President in 1984. In 1988 Tony purchased
the business from his father.
D&W is now made up of two distinct divisions. The Distribution Division caters primarily to the
OEM Recreational Vehicle Industry. The Manufacturing Division manufactures glass mirror and
fabricates specialty glass products for a broad spectrum of customers.
Jay Riblet is GM of the Distribution Division and Angie Reed is GM of the Manufacturing
Division.
As the company looks to the future, there’s a third generation of Warning involved in the
business. Paul Warning received a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Purdue and then a
Master’s of Science in Biology from IUPUI. He now serves as the sales manager for the
Manufacturing Division.
Looking ahead to the next 50 years, D&W has a vision for the future: high quality products,
continuing to offer great customer service, provide a family atmosphere with exceptional
manufacturing, according to Tony, “To make the next 50 years just as good.”
